A Tough Questions From God

I started rereading the book “The Present Future” by Reggie McNeal. It is an incredibly challenging read. Last night I was reading and thinking about what I had read when I felt like God asked me this question…

“Do you want the people of your church to reach out to their lost friends because you want to see God move greatly in their lives or because you want to put people in the chairs of your church?”

Wow! This is a tough question. We are in the middle of making some renovations to one of the services that I am involved in and the only way I feel to truly build a strong church is by having God’s presence in a intense way there, create a community of believers that are journeying together and to reach out to those who are far from God.

So, one of our focuses is to really challenge people to look and pray for God to open doors where they can share what God has done in their lives with their friends. But to be honest, most of the time I have seen it as part of church growth instead of a part of heaven growth.

I want to make sure that the reason we share the gospel with people is because we want them to get to know Jesus, not because we want them to sign our memebership role.

I think this should be a good reminder to us all. Why do we do what we do? Are our motives truly pure. I am sure that you are like me and that it is your hearts desire that your motives stay pure.
